BENGALURU: With the onset of summer, the number of visitors is on the rise at parks. However, visitors should be careful before engaging in PDA at Lalbagh. The Horticulture Department has come up with a new plan to prevent indecency and public display of affection by installing over 100 CCTV cameras while security personnel and the police will keep close watch on visitors.

Lalbagh is one of the most prominent tourist spots in the city. Thousands of visitors and tourists come here every day to spend quality time and to enjoy the lush green beauty and fresh air. However, some couples make other visitors feel uncomfortable with their indecent behaviour. It is embarrassing for visitors who come with children, and also schoolchildren who visit the lung space. So the officials of the Horticulture Department at Lalbagh have decided to put an end to this and the security staff and police are making regular rounds to avoid such situations.

Kusuma G, Deputy Director of Horticulture, Lalbagh, said a total of 104 CCTV cameras have been installed in Lalbagh. “Visitors have made many oral complaints to the Horticulture Department officials saying that couples misbehave at the Dhanvantari Gate and in other areas like rocky and hilly areas. Therefore, Lalbagh security personnel are patrolling from morning to evening. If they notice such behaviour from a distance, the couples are warned by blowing a whistle. If they do not respect it, they will be sent out of the park”.

There have also been incidents where some couples have got into arguments with the security personnel when they warned about PDA in the park. Hence, the department hopes the CCTV cameras will help prevent indecent behavour at the park.
