Youth steps into canal to wash car, swept away

RAICHUR: A youth, who had gone with some of his friends to the Tungabhadra left bank canal to wash his car, died after drowning in the water on Monday. The deceased was identified as Hussainappa (18) of Sirwar town.

It is said that Hussainappa lost his footing when he stepped into the water and died. He did not know swimming and was washed away in the canal. The body was found a day later near the Ganekal minor dam on Tuesday.

The body was shifted to the taluk hospital in Devadurg for post-mortem examination and a case has been registered at the Gabbur police station.
