BELAGAVI: A woman was severely assaulted by her husband and ended up with broken limbs after she opposed the marriage of their minor daughter. The incident occurred in Harugoppa village in Bailhongal taluk.
Bheerappa Karennvar wanted to get his 13-year-old daughter married to a relativeas he had an eye on their 40 acres of land. However, his wife Mayavva Karennavar opposed the marriage of their minor daughter. Angered by this, Bheerappa thrashed his wife so badly with a piece of wood that she suffered a broken hand and leg.
Mayavva is currently undergoing treatment for her injuries at the government hospital in Bailhongal. The Murugod police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the accused.
