MANDYA: A former student of a government higher primary school in Pandavapura taluk allegedly sexually assaulted several minor girl students of the school and even blackmailed them after secretly taking their pictures.
Four of the distraught victims wrote a letter to the district child protection officer following which and FIR was registered against the accused Yogesh and he was arrested.
The victims complained that Yogesh would target those who were interested in sports or music and would sexually assault them in the guise of giving them a ride or teaching sports. He had also taken photographs of them and would blackmail the girls, the complaint said.
Following their letter to the district child protection officer, a team of officials visited the school and spoke to the victims. It was then revealed that Yogesh had sexually assaulted other girls too apart from the complainants. The police have registered a case under the POCSO Act and also Sections 354A, 354D and 509 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita (BNS).
