Some Muslim students were stopped at the gate of the Junior College in Kundapur by the principal and were not allowed inside.

The principal has asked the Muslim students to remove their Hijab and return to the classroom which the students have refused and has resulted in an altercation between them at the gate of the college.

The students pointed out that they have always worn the Hijab and come to college and this is not new. They said that if Hindu students want to wear a saffron shawl they can. The government hasn’t referenced the Kundapur college and until they mention the college the students said they want to continue wearing their traditional attire.

The principal has responded to this claim by saying that the state has issued orders to the entire state, and there are over 1200 colleges. He has mentioned that not every college will get the notice individually and that they will follow whatever the government says.
