HASSAN: Nine convicts, who had brutally killed a history-sheeter in broad daylight, have been awarded life imprisonment by the Additional District and Sessions Court at Channarayapatna. The convicts include the notorious Yachenahalli Chetu.
History-sheeter Mastigowda was murdered by the accused on the main road in Channarayapatna, on July 4, 2023. The court concluded the trial and announced the verdict within ten months of the murder.
The nine convicetd are including Yachenahalli Chetu alias Yachenahalli Chetan, Mandya Shiva a.k.a Sivakumar, Ulivala Chethu, Rocky a.k.a Rakesh, Sumantha, Bharat, Harish, Motte alias Rahul and Raghu alias Raghavendra. They had together planned to murder Mastigowda while in Gulbarga Jail. Two other accused in the case were sentenced to two-and-half years imprisonment.
A case of murder was registered at Channarayapatna city police station and inspector Vasanthkumar K A was the investigating officer. Hariram Shankar was District Superintendent of Police at that time.
