“Yathindra has spoken well like an experienced candidate and I cannot speak much. It is your good fortune that he is your MLA and I have come here to strengthen everybody’s hands. It is you wo have given the strength to Siddaramaiah to contest from anywhere and it is not possible to forget your help”, he said, addressing the voters of the constituency.

“Siddaramaiah is campaigning in North Karnataka and I am campaigining in the South. Closer to the election, I will tour the northern parts. Yediyurappa did nothing but give sarees and bicycles and nothing works in this government without bribes. I have come here so that we can strengthen the hands of Siddaramaiah, Yathindra and Dhruvanarayan”, he said.

Further, Shivakumar said that though Yathindra was the only applicant, he was open to his father contesting from Varuna constituency. “I had come here during the Chamundeshwari constituency bypoll and then PWD minister H C Mahadevappa has done commendable work in T Narsipur constituency and Siddaramaiah has highlighted his work at the national level”, he said.

“God only provides opportunities, not boons or curses. We should know how to make use of those opportunities. With your blessings, Siddaramaiah became Chief Minister and did good work. We both have won seven terms and he got a big opportunity. When we win, we should do good work”, he added, while recalling the contributions of former CM D Devaraj Urs.
