BENGALURU: A Rapido bike taxi rider allegedly made away with an expensive mobile phone belonging to a woman after taking it from her on the excuse of checking his motorcycle in Halasur police limits.
Some days ago, Mustafa, the Rapido rider, had dropped off a woman and had collected her personal mobile number. Two days later, he called her and told her that he had quit his job. The woman had to go to KR Puram and Mustafa offered to drop her himself.
On the way, he stopped the motorcycle saying that it had conked off and requested her to use her mobile phone torch to check the vehicle.
When the woman handed over her phone to him, he escaped with it. The incident occurred 10 days ago and Mustafa has been absconding since then.
