Udupi residents pay last respects to Kerala truck driver who died in Shirur landslide

The remains were briefly kept for the public to pay their last respects.

UDUPI: The mortal remains of Kerala truck driver Arjun, who was swept away along with his vehicle into the Gangavali river after a massive landslide near Shirur in Uttara Kannada district, was brought for public viewing at Chittaranjan Circle here on Friday night.

People hailing from Kerala paid their last respects after which the remains were taken to Arjun’s hometown Kozhikode in Kerala via Mangaluru in an ambulance.

As the remains were kept wrapped in cloth, social activists Eshwar Malpe and Nityananda Olakadu arranged a casket. The remains of Arjun and parts of his truck were pulled out by a dredger from the Gangavali river two days ago.
