BENGALURU: The City Market police have seized a scooter and issued a notice to its owner for violating traffic rules multiple times and accumulating hefty fines of over Rs 1.61 lakh.

The scooter, bearing the registration number KA 05 ZX 1344, had been penalised multiple times for various offenses, including not wearing a helmet and jumping signals. The scooter’s owner had been fined Rs 1,05,500 last year, and this year, the fine amount increased to Rs 1,61,000.

Despite the hefty fines, the owner continued to ride the two-wheeler recklessly, prompting a social media user to post a photo of the scooter, highlighting the owner’s disregard for traffic rules. The post went viral, with netizens questioning why the traffic police had not taken action against the owner despite the numerous fines.

The traffic police, taking cognizance of the matter, tracked down the two-wheeler and seized it. The Honda  Activa had been involved in 311 cases of traffic rule violations since 2023. The traffic police have issued a notice to the owner, directing them to pay the accumulated fines.
