VIJAYAPURA: Two people suffered burn injuries after a gas cylinder exploded at a jewellery store at Saraf Bazaar in Vijayapura city on Thursday morning.
The blast occurred while work was under way at the gold furnace. Two goldsmiths hailing from Bengal sustained burn injuries in the accident. The injured Biju (38) and Nana Hakim (40) were shifted to the hospital by auto.
The two had come to work at the gold shop in the morning and the gas cylinder exploded just as they were starting work. The intensity of the blast shattered the shutter door of the jewellery store, but luckily, there was no loss of life.
A large had gathered around Saraf Bazaar after hearing the sound of the explosion.
