The PM will hold a 1.5-km roadshow in Kalaburagi today.

KALABURAGI: Ahead of the announcement of the dates for the Lok Sabha elections by the Election Commission of India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold his first public rally here today. Interestingly, the PM Modi starts his campaign in Karnataka from the home turf of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.

Security has been increased at the Kalaburagi airport.

In 2019 too, PM Modi had launched his campaign from Kalaburagi. The party won six seats in the Kalyana Karnataka region and 26 of the 28 Lok Sabha seats in the state. This year too, the PM is starting his Karnataka campaign from Kharge’s citadel before the Model Code of Conduct kicks in.

Roads have been decked up with party flags.

Prior to the rally, PM Modi will hold a 1.5-km roadshow and then campaign for the party’s Lok Sabha candidates from Kalaburagi and Bidar. All arrangements have already been made for the roadshow. Security has been tightened at the airport and other major places as the police and NIA are on the trail of the Bengaluru cafe blast suspect here.

The state is set for the PM’s rally.

The PM will arrive from Telangana at 2 pm and hold a roadshow from RV Circle to NV Ground where he will address a rally. About 1.5 lakh people are expected at the rally and all senior state BJP leaders including B S Yediyurappa, Basavaraj Bommai, B Y Vijayendra, R Ashoka, Pralhad Joshi and others will be present.
