MANGALURU: Two people were killed in an elephant attack on Monday morning at Meenadi in Kadaba taluk of Dakshina Kannada district.
The deceased have been identified as Ramesh Rai (55) and Ranjitha (21). Ranjitha was working at Peradka Milk Society and was on her way to work when a wild elephant attacked her. Hearing her screams, Ramesh Rai rushed to help her, but he was also attacked by the elephant.
While Ramesh died on the spot, Ranjitha succumbed to her injuries at a hospital in Nelyadi. The incident occurred in Kadaba police station limits.
