Acting on specific information, police conducted an operation in the New Layout area of Mudigere town when the accused were attempting to circulate fake notes, and took them into custody. A total of 90 fake notes of Rs 200 denomination — 45 from each — have been seized and have a total value of Rs 18,000.

On the notes that the accused had brought for circulation, it was printed as ‘BISERVE BANK OF INDIA’ instead of ‘RESERVE BANK OF INDIA’. As per preliminary information, Mohammed Ali, who had come from Mangaluru, was trying to sell and circulate these fake notes in Mudigere.
A case has been registered at Mudigere police station and the police have launched an investigation from multiple angles — whether only these two are behind this network or if others are also involved, and where the fake notes were being printed.
