CHITRADURGA: Two men died while one managed to survive after the motorcycle they were riding was washed away while crossing an overflowing bridge at Korlakunte village in Challakere taluk under Parashurampura police limits on Monday night.

The deceased were identified as Obalesh (35) and Kumar (35) of Kolarkunte village. Manjunath, also from the same village, luckily survived. The three were returning to the village when they were swept away.

On Tuesday, the police and the Fire and Emergency Services personnel launched a search for the bodies of the two men. They also roped in the services of ‘Monkeyman’ Jothiraj’s team.

While the motorcycle was found near the bridge, the bodies of the two men were found a little downstream.

Superintendent of Police Chandraiah visited the spot and assured the families of compensation. The villagers have also demanded that a protective parapet wall be built along the bridge.
