Shoe store owner fakes robbery, held

BENGALURU: A shoe store owner has been arrested by the Chamarajpet police for faking a robbery and lodging a complaint.

One Vikram had given Rs 10 lakh to Mularam, the shoe store owner, to hand over the cash to one Ashok. But Mularam weaved a story of robbery and kept the money with him.

Mularam claimed that he was attacked by two people near Sirsi Circle who slashed his hands with a sharp weapon, tore his shirt and snatched the money from him. He went to the police station with the self-inflicted injuries and lodged a complaint.

Police said Mularam had faked the robbery as he was in debt and wanted to clear some loans. The police have recovered the Rs 10 lakh from him and arrested him.
