MANGALURU: Dakshina Kannada district, which was in the eye of a storm over the hijab row, has received 13 applications from Muslim institutions to start new pre-university colleges.
The district administration received a total of 14 applications this year of which 13 are from Muslim educational institutions. The authorities have so far approved only one application from a Muslim institution from Gurupura and another from an non-Muslim institution in Subrahmanya.
The remaining 12 applications have been kept pending by the authorities concerned.
