BENGALURU: After putting the rollout of the Gruha Lakshmi on hold, the state government is likely to start receiving applications only after gauging the response to the Gruha Jyothi scheme.

The government may be looking for the pressure on the Gruha Jyothi scheme enrolment to ease and will gauge the response till July 10 after which it is expected to invited applications for the Gruha Lakshmi scheme. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had earlier announced that the Gruha Lakshmi scheme will be rolled out on Independence Day on August 15.

The Congress had promised Rs 2,000 to the woman head of family of all households in the run-up to the election and in its manifesto.

After the initial confusion over who would be eligible for the Gruha Lakshmi scheme benefits, the Women and Child Development Department has come out with an app for registration of applicants. But since applications for the Gruha Jyothi scheme are still being submitted, the government may go a bit slow on the Gruha Lakshmi scheme and may start inviting applications only after July 15.

Though a separate app has been readied, the government may be looking for the pressure to ease as regards the Gruha Jyothi scheme and has pushed the dates forward.
