VIJAYAPURA: A major accident was averted on Tuesday evening due to the villagers’ presence of mind, who quickly moved a school bus that had got stuck on a railway track. The incident has come to light only now.
A school bus broke down and stopped on the railway track at the level crossing in Lachyan village in Indi taluk, right when a train was about to arrive. There were more than 25 children in the school vehicle. At that time, the villagers pushed the bus off the track and prevented a major accident.
The school bus was going from Halasangi via Lachyan towards Shiragur. It is said that the vehicle’s gearbox failed and it broke down in the middle of the track. Thanks to the villagers’ presence of mind, a major accident was averted.
