BENGALURU: A day after the Assembly election, the three major political parties got busy with their internal reviews and post-poll calculations as all speculations and expectations could have changed at the last minute. All the three major parties campaigned, hosted rallies and roadshows constantly in the constituencies. But, at last, voters will be  ‘decision maker’.

Several factors influence the outcome of the elections. Earlier, the BJP seemed very sure of getting an absolute majority. But, after the exit polls, the expectation was more mellowed. As per the exit polls, Congress is headed to secure majority.

A series of meeting is going over government formation in the three parties and the top brasses are keeping a close watch on the developments in the state. Hence, the central leaders from both the Congress and BJP are rushing important leaders to Bengaluru to discuss government formation.

The BJP and JD(S) are not lagging behind in devising political strategy. The JD(S) had said earlier that ‘they will be the king’. But exit polls give the JD(S) lesser numbers than the last election.

The Congress is excited about the exit polls, which predict that it will get simple and clear majority, and is planning to form an independent government. Party state in-charge Randeep Surjewala arrived in Bengaluru on Thursday and has instructed the state leaders to be prepared for any situation. Fresh strategies are being drawn up in Bengaluru on the directions of the high command and efforts are being made to keep in touch with leaders of other political parties, if the need arises.

On the other hand, the BJP and its leaders too are optimistic about forming the next government despite the exit poll predictions. The state leaders are discussing with the top brass and plans are being drawn up to secure the support of other party leaders depending on the outcome of the polls. There is speculation that the BJP is also thinking seriously about forming a coalition government.

After the exit polls, however, the Janata Dal (Secular) seems bit upset over the numbers and some leaders seem to be disappointed over not reaching the target. Despite the poor performance, the top leaders are hoping to become kingmakers. The JDS is looking forward to the possibility of forming a coalition government once again if other two parties fail to get majority seats.
