BENGALURU: Amid the poor monsoon in the state, the weather department has again forecast less rainfall in September in parts of the state. The weather department has warned that there is possibility of less than normal rain in September in the south- and north-interior regions of the state.
The weather department said that there is a possibility of only light rain in some parts of coastal and Malnad regions. There is also possibility of rise in temperature in most places of the state including Bengaluru.
Weather expert Prasad told Public TV, “There will be less rainfall in September and between September 4 and 10, there will be below normal rainfall. Widespread light rainfall can be expected in the coastal and Malnad regions over the next one week and there is no indication of heavy rainfall in Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada and Udupi districts. In some parts of Malnad region, light to moderate rain can be expected”.
Further, he said, “There are no indications of heavy rainfall in Malnad region and only about 50 per cent of the area may witness light to moderate rain. Light to moderate rainfall can also be expected in south- and north-interior Karnataka over the next one week. Dry weather will prevail in some parts of south- and north-interior Karnataka as the northeast monsoon will remain weak”.
Against the background of poor rainfall in the last one week, the maximum temperature has been rising, and there is a possibility of the temperature rising 2 or 3 degrees above normal with more heat at night time, the weather department has forecast.
In the morning time, the maximum temperature is likely to be more than 30 degrees, and the minimum temperature also is forecast to rise. For next one week temperature is going to rise in all districts across state along with a decrease in rainfall.
