CHIKKABALLAPUR: A man killed his wife and sister-in-law by slitting their throats with a knife at the wife’s parental home in Chintamani as the wife as the wife did nopt return to her marital home. After the double murder, he went to Kolar police station and surrendered to the police.

Fed up with her husband Ejaz’s harassment, the wife Shama had gone to her parents’ house two months ago along with her three children. She refused to return to her husband’s house. Out of this grudge, the husband came from Kolar to Chintamani early on Monday morning and brutally slit the throats of his wife and her younger sister Reshma, who were sleeping at home, and killed them. Later, he dropped his three children at his house in Kolar and went to the police station himself to surrender.
Shama and Reshma were residents of JJ Colony in Chintamani city. Eight years ago, Shama was married to Ejaz, a resident of Gulpet in Kolar. The couple also had three children. But two months ago, due to an escalation in marital disputes, Shama came to her parents’ house with her three children and stayed there.

During this period, Ejaz repeatedly called and shouted at his wife to come back home. He had also threatened to kill her if she didn’t return. Accordingly, Ejaz came to Chintamani from Kolar on Monday morning and slit the throat of Shama, who was sleeping at home, and killed her. Then he slit the throat of her younger sister Reshma, who was sleeping next to her, and killed her too.
The accused had come to Chintamani from Kolar around 5 am and committed the double murder within a few minutes. Later, he took his three children on a bike to Kolar, dropped them at home, and went directly to Gulpet police station where he confessed that he had killed his wife and sister-in-law, and surrendered, Police Superintendent Kushal Chowksey, who visited the spot, said.

As soon as they got this information, Chintamani Town Police visited the spot and inspected it. They sent the bodies for post-mortem and registered a case and took up investigation. According to family members, the accused Ejaz was addicted to alcohol, gambling and other vices. Because of this, he used to fight and assault his wife frequently.
Fed up with this harassment, Shama had gone to her parents’ house. It is also said that she was planning to file for divorce. Angered that his wife would not return home, he killed his wife and sister-in-law. Currently, Chintamani Town Police have taken the accused into custody and are continuing the investigation.
