Man kills girlfriend and burns body in Malavalli, later ends life along with mother in TN village

MANDYA: A man killed his girlfriend, burnt her body and later committed suicide along with his mother after the police received information about the burnt body, at Javanahalli Gudda in Malavalli taluk on June 24. The police managed to crack the case after a detailed investigation.

Along with the burnt body, the police had found the woman’s wristwatch, a ring, hair clip and a house key. They went through missing person’s cases across the state, but ended up with no leads. After SP Shobha Rani V J directed the police to scan CCTV footage, the police narrowed down on a Toyota Etios car passing through the Belakawadi toll plaza. In the CCTV footage, a woman was seen sleeping in the front seat and police suspected that it was the dead woman.

The police then questioned the car owner Rajashekar of Upparahalli in Tamil Nadu, but he claimed that he had sold the vehicle. Afraid that the police may catch up with him, he ended his life along with his mother by jumping into a canal in Upparahalli, the SP said.

The victim Nalini was a resident of JP Nagar in Bengaluru with a friend and worked at a beatuy parlour. During this time, she got into a relationship with Rajashekar and was insisting that they get married. On June 22, Rajashekar picked up Nalini near Attibele and she called her friend to ask her to feed the cat.

It is suspected that Rajashekar took Nalini to Upparahalli and killed her. The same day, he brought her body bakc and set it on fire near Javanahalli Gudda. He then told a friend, Venky, that some unidentified people had killed Nalini. He also told Nalini’s friend Shreya that she had not come with him at all, the SP said.

On June 24, Rajashekar had visited the spot where he had burnt Nalini’s body and got scared after the police summoned him. On June 28, he and his mother died after jumping into a canal.

Nalini was previously married and had separated from her husband. Rajashekar had told a friend that she was pestering him to get married. Not wanting to get married, he murdered her, police said. A case has been registered at the Malavalli Rural police station and further investigation is under way.
