HASSAN: Former Arasikere Janata Dal (Secular) MLA K M Shivalinge Gowda officially joined Congress on Sunday. KPCC president D K Shivakumar and Opposition leader Siddaramaiah welcomed Shivalinge Gowda to the party fold with the Congress flag.
Shivalinge Gowda was a three-time MLA from the JD(S), but quit the party recently. He submitted his resignation as an MLA and joined the party at a programme held at Jenukallu stadium in Arasikere town on Sunday.
After joining the Congress party, he said, “It was written in my destiny. Like Siddaramaiah left JD(S) and joined the Congress, in the same way, it was written in my fate to join the party. I have joined the Congress party today and I am very happy about it. Arasikere constituency has not developed under the BJP government. The Siddaramaiah-led Congress government has provided drinking water schemes to 538 villages and the Yettinahole project. I am not saying that the BJP has not done anything, they might have done some work”, he said. He recalled that Yedyiurappa and D K Shivakumar had given money for laying concrete roads in the constituency.
“The BJP government is involved in corruption. It is auctioning the dignity of politicians on the streets. I have never seen such an unethical and dishonest administration. I will tell you what your achievement is. Today’s gas price is Rs 1,200. Do you have dignity? The prices of daily necessities are high. Coconut prices have come fallen. The authorities have given a date for next year’s purchase of coconuts. Do you think the coconuts last there until then? Do you think Modi knows what a coconut is?” he lashed out at the BJP.
