BENGALURU: Opposing the state government’s transfer policy, police sub-inspectors across the state have started a letter campaign addressed to the Home minister. They are demanding that the transfer rules be relaxed.

In the letters, the sub-inspectors noted that if they are transferred elsewhere, their seniority will not be considered. For example, if someone has served seven years in Bengaluru and is then transferred to another district or to their parent district, the government will not consider the seven years of service rendered in Bengaluru.

Due to this reason, around 110 Sub-Inspectors have started a letter campaign demanding that the government’s transfer rules be relaxed. The police sub-inspectors are demanding through this letter campaign that new transfer rules be framed to allow them to be transferred across the state. They are also demanding that a transparent counselling system be implemented without causing any administrative problems.

Ex-servicemen and couples should be allowed to work in nearby areas so that their personal/family life is not affected. If the above amendments cannot be brought in, they are demanding through the letter campaign that, like in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, seniority on a Range/Commissionerate basis should be considered when promoting Police Sub-Inspectors to Police Inspectors.
