Police kept close watch on the every movements in the college.

UDUPI:  The investigation of the video incident at a Udupi paramedical college, wherein the three students allegedly placed a mobile phone secretly in the women’s washroom to shoot videos of other girls, is picking up pace. The police have seized digital video recorders (DVR) from the last six months and are investigating from all perspectives. Kundapur Deputy SP Belliappa is the new investigation officer in the case.

The police kept a close watch on all movements in the college campus and are verifying the CCTV footage and call detail records (CDR) of mobiles used by the three accused female students on campus. The police may also question the students who spoke about the problems at the college.

The police are also gathering information from the accused, and the statement of the victim student has already been recorded. A comprehensive inquiry is likely to be conducted only after the FSL report comes in.

Apart from this, the police have registered a case against those who made obscene comments on the issue. A student who had spoken against the system during a protest received an obscene message as well as threatening messages on Instagram on July 28 from an account going by the name ‘JigarCobra’. A case has been registered at the CEN station on the grounds of sending vulgar messages and disturbing her mental peace.

Union Minister of State Shobha Karandlaje was also informed about this by a Hindu organisation. The case was registered after a meeting with Superintendent Police Hakay Akshay Machhindra.
