BENGALURU: An elderly two-wheeler rider was hospitalised with serious injury after hitting a pothole. A woman entrepreneur, who underwent surgery after hitting a pothole, also appealed to Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to improve the condition of the roads in the city.
While travelling on the Sudhama Nagar main road on Monday, an elderly couple fell down and got injured as the rider could not spot a pothole at a turn. Vishwanath was travelling on a two-wheeler with his wife and grandchild and did not notice the pothole which was filled with water. He lost control and immediately fell to the ground.
As soon as he fell to the ground, his heel bone broke and immediately, with the help of locals, the elderly person was admitted to hospital. Treatment is continuing at a private hospital.
A woman entrepreneur, Sangeetha Gopal, a resident of Indiranagar, has spoken out about how her health is getting spoiled due to road potholes and damaged roads in a social media post.
Sangeetha Gopal, who has suffered pain due to these road potholes, has raised her voice on social media about these pothole problems. In this regard, she has tagged CM DK Shivakumar on Instagram and requested to solve the problem.
She wrote on Instagram, “Dear Shri D.K. Shivakumar Sir, I am making this heartfelt appeal as one of your citizens/fan. The condition of our roads is becoming a serious problem. Even while traveling in the most luxurious car, every few meters there is a pothole, hump or damaged road. This causes pain in the back and neck. For me, who has recently undergone spine surgery, the effect is felt even more intensely. I have also shared pictures of my surgery with the intention that you yourself can see the seriousness of the surgery I underwent. This is not to get sympathy; I have posted showing the seriousness of the problem and I am requesting to please take note of this matter and take necessary action”.

“Pain in the back and neck occur even while moving in car. One can imagine how much difficulty people travelling in two-wheelers, autos and public transport are facing. As a fitness trainer, I was shocked to see many youngsters in their 20s already suffering from spinal injuries and L4-L5 problems during my physiotherapy treatment. At such a young age, instead of suffering from back pain and spinal problems, they need to focus on building their life. Good roads are not just a matter of convenience or development. They are matters related to safety, health and dignity of daily living”, she said, and requested CM DK Shivakumar to take necessary steps to provide roads convenient for traffic.
Sangeetha also told Public TV that she is having trouble sending her son from Indiranagar to college on Residency Road as he too suffers pain after having undergone a knee surgery.
