Police raid house, find tusks, sandalwood, red sanders worth Rs 3 crore; arrest two

CHITRADURGA: The Chitrahalli police seized illegally collected tusks, sandalwood and red sanders after a raid on a house near Babburu village in Hiriyur taluk of Chitradurga. Two people have been arrested in this connection.

The accused are Chandrasekhar from Tarikere and Khalil from Tamil Nadu. They had taken the house of one Narayanappa in Babburu village on lease stating that they were into timber business.

The value of the seized items is estimated at Rs 3 crore and further investigation is under way. This incident took place under the jurisdiction of the Hiriyur Rural police station.
