BALLARI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday tore into the Congress saying that it stands with terrorism for the sake of appeasement and votebank politcs. Surprisingly, he also mentioned the movie ‘The Kerala Story’ and said that it highlights the perils of terrorism.

Addressing an election rally here on Friday, the PM began his speech in Kannada, invoking Bajrang Bali and also adding ‘Anjaneya Swami ki Jai’. Modi said that ever since independence, the Congress has meddled with the system in the country and indulged in corruption. For the sake of winning the elections, it spends huge money and come up with fake surveys. For the upcoming Assembly election too, it has announced fake guarantees, he said.

The PM greeted Minister B Sriramulu by shaking his hand and patting him on the shoulder.

“The Congress manifesto is full of ‘We’ll repeal this, we’ll undo that’. For the sake of appeasement politics, the party is ready to stop all the facilities that we have provided to the people. They can’t even stand it if I utter Bajrang Bali’s name”, the PM said.

“We have announced several measures to make Karnataka the No. 1 state, but for this to happen, the law and order situation in the state should be good and remain free from terrorism. The BJP has always been tough against terrorism and this is causing heartburn for the Congress. Terrorism is a threat to humanity, but Congress is siding with terrorists for the sake of appeasement. How can it protect the people and develop this state? If you vote the Congress to power, all the IT/BT industries will be destroyed,” he warned.

The PM said the face of terrorism has changed over the last few years and mentioned the movie, ‘The Kerala Story’, which incidentally released in theatres on Friday, saying that it portrays the consequences of terrorism. “Kerala is a beautiful state and its people are hard-working. But the Congress won’t speak about what is shown in ‘The Kerala Story and is opposing the movie”, Modi remarked.

Referring to the ongoing Sudan conflict, Modi said his government safely evacuated thousands of Indians, including Hakki Pilli tribes from Karnataka who were stranded there, despite the challenging circumstances, under Operation Kaveri. He also accused the Congress of exposing Kannadigas to danger in Sudan before they could be evacuated. The PM also mentioned other instances when Indians were safely evacuated from Iran, Ukraine and other countries.

Stressing on the infrastructure development projects, he said Rs 10 lakh crore has been set aside for it in the budget and added that steel industries in Ballari will also benefit from infrastructure development.

Lashing out at the Congress over corruption, he said former PM Rajiv Gandhi had himself admitted that it’s an 85 per cent commission party. “Congress’ former PM Rajiv Gandhi himself told that his government sent 100 paise from Delhi, but only 15 paise reached the poor. In a way, he himself accepted that Congress is a party with 85 per cent commission”, Modi said.
