BENGALURU: An on-duty Home Guard was killed after he was run over by a truck during checking of vehicles at Doddabele Junction near Kengeri Nice Road on Wednesday night.
Home Guard Vijay Kumar was seriously injured in the accident and succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Rajarajeshwari Hospital. The scene of the truck knocking down Vijay Kumar was captured on CCTV camera.
Footage from CCTV shows a traffic constable and the Home Guard checking vehicles on Kengeri NICE Road on Wednesday night. When they tried to stop the truck, the driver continued to move. When the truck driver did not stop the vehicle, the constable and the Home Guard gave a chase for a little distance. While the constable backtracked, the Home Guard continued to chase the truck for a distance more and was knocked down by the truck which ran over him without mercy.
The other police personnel rushed to his rescue and shifted him to a hospital. A case was registered at the Kengeri traffic police station.
