Gold designed as screws were found in a suitcase at KIA by Customs officials.

BENGALURU: The Customs officials at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) have seized 267 gm of gold which was being smuggled in as screws of a suitcase.

The Customs officials examined a piece of baggage which had arrived by an Emirates flight and upon, examination, found gold designed as screws of the suitcase.

Gold chains hidden in the strap of a bag were also recovered.

In another case, the Customs officials seized gold chains hidden in the straps of baggage pieces being carried by two passengers who arrived from Singapore. The gold chains are said to be worth Rs 1.59 crore and the two passengers have been arrested.
