KALABURAGI: Congress legislature party leader Siddaramaiah has said that Hindu dharma and Hindutva and distinct and added that he is not opposed to the former.

Speaking at a book release function at the Rotary Club grounds here on Sunday evening, he said, “I am branded as being against Hindu dharma, but I have never opposed it and I too am a Hindu. But I am opposed to Manuvad and Hindutva. Most of us present here oppose Manuvad and Hindutva, but we are not opposed to Hindu dharma”.

Further, questioning whether any religion promotes killings and violence, he said, “Manuvad and Hindutva promote, killings, violence and discrimination. That is the difference between Hindu dharma and Hindutva”, he said.

Siddaramaiah was speaking at the launch of the book ‘Towards fearless socialism’ on the life of former Aland legislator B R Patil. The event was organised by B R Patil Fans’ Association and the book has been published by Purva Sri Publications of Sorpur.
