BENGALURU: After a report of a one-and-a-half-month-old baby being trafficked was broadcast on Public TV, a team of Bengaluru, Ramanagar and Mandya Child Protection Officers rescued the infant and handed it over to the  Mandya Child Welfare Committee.

Public TV had cracked the child trafficking racket in Bengaluru through a sting operation. The child, from Chamarajpet in Bengaluru, was sold to Basavaraj of Madahalli in Malavalli taluk in Mandya district for Rs 1.5 lakh.

When the officers visited his house, the family members argued with the officers and refused to show the  child. Later, when they explained about the child trafficking network, he admitted it and handed over the child to the officers.
