RAICHUR: A speeding luxury car knocked down a motorcycle rider who was recklessly crossing the road and also hit two schoolgirls who were walking by the side of the road in Raichur recently. Fortunately, there was no loss of life.

In CCTV footage that is available, a white Jaguar car is seem coming up Station Road while a motorcycle rider, ignoring the car, tries to cut across at an opening in the median. In a bid to avoid the motorcycle rider, the car hit two among a group of four girls who were walking by the side of the road, throwing them for a distance.

The motorcycle rider Shivaraj Patil suffered a broken leg and has been admitted to RIMS. The two college girls, Jyothi and Shivamangala, sustained minor injuries. The Raichur traffic police have seized the car and registered a case. Further investigation is under way.

The Jaguar has a Jharkhand registration and (right) the motorcycle involved in the accident.

Reacting to the incident, ADGP (traffic and road safety) Alok Kumar tweeted saying, “Have directed the concerned to take immediate legal action against Motor cycle rider as well as the car driver. DL suspension for both of them is also recommended. Unfortunate incident causing injuries to hapless school girls”.
