KOPPAL: Minister for Mines and Geology, Halappa Achar, was on Sunday taken to task by villagers of Choudapura in Yelburga taluk over the lack of permanent teachers at the government school in the village over the last five years.

The villagers complained that though they had complained to the minister himself several times, teachers were being posted only on deputation for the last five years and there are no permanent teachers.

The minister immediately called up the deputy director of public instruction (DDPI) and directed him to post a teacher immediately to the village school, but the villagers would have none of it.

“For the last five years, teachers are being posted on deputation and there are no permanent teachers. If the government cannot appoint permanent teachers, it is better to close down the school”, the angry villagers told the minister.
