NATGRID helps locate 12 men and women missing since 10 years in Belagavi district

BELAGAVI: Artificial intelligence technology helped the police trace 12 women and men, who had missing a decade ago, and bring them back. The people who had left home were reunited with their families due to the innovative effort of Belagavi district police by using NATGRID application.

Two of the missing cases were reported in Yamakanamaradi station limits, one each in Savadatti, Harugeri, Hukkeri, Ankalagi, Ghataprabha and Sankeshwar, four in Raibagh station limits. These were missing for the last six months to eleven years and involved people of different ages, SP Ramarajan K said.

The NATGRID application traces missing persons based on photos uploaded. .As soon as it is uploaded, a clue is found no matter which corner of the country the missing person is living in after leaving home due to family disputes or domestic quarrels, SP Ramarajan K said.

The application can detect if if the missing person purchased a SIM card, opened a bank account, or bought a vehicle while living elsewhere. Based on this, information is obtained on where the missing persons are.
