BENGALURU: The Karnataka Milk Federation’s (KMF) Nandini brand of products may soon be available on Vande Bharat train if the cooperative body’s plans come through.
The KMF plans to present a proposal to the railway authorities on making Nandini products like pedha, lassi, buttermilk and chilled flavoured milk available on Vande Bharat trains. If the plan works out, Nandini will be the first such product line to be available on the semi high-speed trains.
Every day, about 75-85 lakh litres of milk is produced in the state of which 8-9 lakh litres goes towards production of different milk products. The KMF is considering increasing production of milk products using 9-11 lakh litres of milk to meet the demand and expand its market. Currently, it is facing a shortage of about 20 per cent in milk supply but it hopes to overcome that soon.
Nandini ropes in Shivarajkumar as brand ambassador, plans new products
After Dr Rajkumar and Puneeth Rajkumar, the KMF has roped in actor Shivarajkumar to be the brand ambassador for the Nandini range of products and popularise them.
The federation plans to launch nutritional foods for children and will also give a makeover to its campaign. “I am grateful to the government for always believing in our family. First, my father Dr Rajkumar was a brand ambassador and then Appu. It is a matter of pride that so much trust is reposed in our family. Since it is related to farmers, it brings all the more happiness. The Nandini brand is popular across the country and I will sincerely do my best to promote it”, Shivarajkumar said.
Federation president Bheema Naik said, “In the first meeting after I took over, we discussed who should be the brand ambassador and the first name that came up was that of Shivanna because KMF has an deep bonding with the family. Even during our difficult times, Dr Rajkumar had been brand ambassador for Nandini”.
“We met Shivarajkumar and requested him to be brand ambassador and he readily agreed. He too will not be taking any remuneration for it just like Dr Rajkumar and Dr Puneeth Rajkumar. We are holding discussions on revamping our marketing and advertisements and launching new products”, he added.
Federation managing director Jagadish said, “We are happy that Shivarajkumar agreed to be our brand ambassador. We are planning different new products like chocolates, sweets and savouries, food supplements for children. We are now doing a product study and then we will take up a market study. We will study the market and proceed with our plans”.
