CHIKKAMAGALUR: A moving semi-sleeper KSRTC Airavat bus suddenly caught fire past midnight near Ajjampura Cross in Tarikere taluk. Luckily, no one was harmed due to the driver’s presence of mind.
The bus, carrying 40 passengers, was on its way from Shivamogga to Mysuru when smoke started emanating. On noticing this, the driver immediately stopped the bus, woke up the sleeping passengers and asked them to deboard.
Soon, the bus was engulfed in flames. The Fire and Emergency Services personnel managed to put out the blaze, but the bus was badly charred. The incident occurred under Tarikere police limits.
