Mock drills at hospitals to review Covid-19 preparedness across state

BENGALURU: Mock drills are being conducted at hospitals across the state to evaluate Covid-19 preparedness. India has been witnessing a steady increase in Covid-19 cases and the active cases have increased to 30,000 nationally and to 1,839 cases in the state. This is the highest number of Covid positive cases reported after five months.

In Karnataka, 189 people tested positive for Covid in the last 24 hours, and the number is growing rapidly in the other states as well.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who chaired a review meeting with states two weeks ago, urged them to be prepared for an emergency situation and instructed them to conduct mock drills on April 10 and 11 to review the preparedness with the district administration and health officials. He also suggested following Covid-appropriate behaviour.

The mock drills will allow the authorities to ascertain whether the doctors are prepared, beds available in the hospitals, strength of doctors, nurses and non-paramedical staff, available of necessary equipment and ambulances with ventilator facility, testing capacity and the availability of oxygen facilities at the hospital.
