BENGALURU: Questioning the silence of the BJP leaders over the allegations of Rs 40,000 crore scam during the Covid-19 pandemic levelled by senior MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal against his own partymen, Medical Education, Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, Livelihood Minister Dr Sharan Prakash Patil said that the saffron party is duty-bound to answer to the people of Karnataka.

Terming it as a biggest scam in the history of Karnataka, the minister said Yatnal’s allegations cannot be brushed aside. “BJP leaders have been making baseless charges against our government on almost all the issues, but their silence on Yatntal’s allegations raises many doubts. Yatnal himself has given evidence for our 40 pc commission allegations. He is a senior BJP leader and his statement cannot be taken lightly”, Patil stated.

Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his rhetoric against corruption, Dr Patil sought action from the central government. “PM Modi describes himself as Chowkidar. Why can’t the central government order a probe into the serious allegations levelled by the BJP leader? His ‘Na Khaunga, Na Khanedhoonga’ slogan should not remain as empty talk”, the minister contended.

The Medical Education Minister urged Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, who served as Railway Minister in former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s council of ministers, to take his corruption allegations to a logical end by releasing the necessary documents and cautioned that he would lose credibility if he fails to do so.

Dr Sharan Prakash Patil warned the BJP that Kannadigas who are smart, will teach a befitting lesson to the saffron party in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections like they did in the Assembly elections.
