Metro to probe road-rail vehicle derailment on track

BENGALURU: After a road-rail vehicle (RRV) broke down on the tracks, affecting Metro services on the green line on Tuesday, Namma Metro is now looking into whether the derailment occurred due to technical issues or due to the driver’s fault.

A road-rail vehicle (RRV) is used to examine tracks. One such vehicle derailed near Rajajinagar on Tuesday, affecting Metro services for over 10 hours. The RRV was finally brought down from the elevated Metro track using a crane.

Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) Managing Director Anjum Pervez had directed senior engineers to conduct a detailed investigation and submit a report. The RRV is usually operated by experienced engineers.

Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya inspected the progress of work on the yellow line.

Meanwhile, Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya visited the Bommasandra Metro station to get information about the delay in starting operations on the yellow line. He inspected work on the Hebbagodi, Electronics City, Silk Board and Jayadeva Metro stations and was accompanied by deputy engineer Ravindra.
