KOPPAL: A WhatsApp message seeking contributions to gift a mobile phone to a Block Education Officer in Koppal district has sparked a controversy. The message asks teachers to gift a mobile phone worth a whopping Rs 1,30,000 to the BEO.
The Block Education Officer of Kushtagi taluk, Umadevi Basapur’s Rs 1,30,000 mobile phone fell and got damaged. A verbal order was given to the taluk president that all aided primary school teachers in the taluk should collectively gift a Rs 1,30,000 mobile phone.
The message says if any teacher does not contribute, that teacher will be responsible for future consequences. The message was sent in the WhatsApp group of aided school teachers.
