BENGALURU: The city traffic police have come up with a short-term plan to ease traffic near Mall of Asia, located in Byatarayanapura.

The traffic police had received a lot of complaints from the public about the traffic congestion on Airport Road from the Mall of Asia in Batarayanapura. Therefore, the Mall of Asia was ordered to be closed temporarily, but the mall management approached the court, questioning the order. The court advised resolving the issues without causing any trouble to anyone.

Following the court directie, the Bengaluru city traffic police have discussed short-term and long-term measures with the mall management to ease traffic.

The mall management board has agreed to the short-term measures and hence, the court has directed them to implement them for 15 days and then come to court. Thus, the short-term plans that were suggested by the police have been implemented.

The short-term plans are as follows:

1. The traffic police officials were instructed to check vehicles inside the mall premises as checking outside the mall entrance will lead to vehicles lining up on the road.
2. Entry and exit should be at different places during the weekend. If the entrance is at the front of the mall, the exit is at the rear, or vice versa. There should be no entry and exit points on the same side.
3. Separate arrangements should be made for parking of staff vehicles working in the mall. They cannot park on the road right in front of the mall.
4. Parking system in the mall should be arranged at the place suggested by BBMP. Parking arrangements should be made on the back lawn and in other areas of the mall.
5. Two-wheeler parking fee should be reduced. Police have suggested parking rates per hour.

The police have given several other suggestions to prevent traffic congestion near Mall of Asia. The court will take a decision after assessing the pros and cons of the temporary measures taken by the traffic police department.
