BENGALURU: Congress state president D K Shivakumar on Monday gave a cryptic reply to party leader Siddaramaiah’s claim that most of the MLAs had voted for him at the legislature party meeting on Sunday evening.

On Monday, Siddaramaiah, who headed to Delhi for a meeting with the party central leadership, told a media house that most of the MLAs were backing him for the post of chief minister. “I think most of the MLAs voted in my favour, that’s what I felt. While assessing the situation yesterday, most of the MLAs wanted me to be the Chief Minister of Karnataka”, he said.

Reacting to this, Shivakumar said in Sathanur in Kanakapura that anyone can claim anything. “None of the MLAs are with me, all 135 MLAs, including me, belong to the Congress. I delivered the state at the feet of the high command, let’s see what they decide”, he said.

“We have passed a one-line resolution. I don’t know what the MLAs have done, but all 135 MLAs are with me. As Congress state president, I have delivered 135 MLAs to Sonia Gandhi. No one is with me, all 135 MLAs, including me, are with Congress”, he added.
