BENGALURU: “Karnataka is one of the most skilled states in the world. Our state is a leader globally in both technology and medical education. In this context, KWIN City, emerging near our capital, will become a key hub for skill development and medical education”, said Dr Sharan Prakash Patil, minister for medical education, skill development and livelihood.
Speaking at the roundtable discussion on integrating education, research and innovation in KWIN City, held on the third day of the Global Investors’ Meet (Invest Karnataka) at the Bengaluru Palace on Thursday, the minister shared his insights.
“KWIN City will prioritize innovation and excellence, with immense opportunities in advanced fields such as life sciences, semiconductors, aerospace and advanced manufacturing. The focus will be on fostering collaboration between educational institutions, industries and government bodies to drive innovation and economic growth”, Patil stated.
The minister highlighted that KWIN City will introduce industry-led skill programmes in artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductor manufacturing, bioengineering and sustainability making Karnataka a talent reservoir and gaining international recognition.
Skill-Based Education
Karnataka already has over 300 industrial training institutes (ITIs) and more than 80 polytechnics, offering vocational education and skill-based training under the vision of Skill Local, Work Global. KWIN City is expected to create significant employment opportunities, the minister elaborated.
The state is gearing up to become a global hub for AI, deep tech and skilled workforce development. Digital platforms like Karnataka skill connect portal will bridge the gap between job seekers and employers, Patil added.
KWIN City will focus on IT and digital skills (coding, AI, data science, cybersecurity), healthcare and biotech (nursing, paramedical and pharmaceutical training) and robotics manufacturing (automated training, CNC machines and precision engineering) ensuring a diversified and future-ready workforce, the minister stated.
The discussion was attended by Industries minister M B Patil, Higher Education minister Dr M C Sudhakar, industry leaders and other dignitaries.
