KPTCL recruitment scam: B’luru trader who supplied devices arrested, gadgets seized

BELAGAVI: In a major breakthrough, the Belagavi police have arrested one person from Bengaluru who supplied electronic gadgets to facilitate malpractice in the KPTCL junior assistant recruitment exam.

The arrested has been identified as Mohammed Azimuddin of Devasandra who who was running the ‘Spy Zone’ electronic devices store at SP Road in Bengaluru. The police have also seized seven O-95 masks and 41 T-shirts fitted with electronic devices, 445 ear pieces, 554 charging cables of different types, six walkie-talkies from the accused. The shop has been sealed and the accused brought to Belagavi.

Azimuddin is accused of supplying electronic gadgets to the prime accused in the recruitment scam, Sanju Bhandari. It is also suspected that he may have supplied electronic gadgets for malpractice in other Central and state recruitment tests.

Azimuddin used to procure the gadgets illegally from dealers in Delhi and Hyderabad. Sanju Bhandari used to buy these gadgets from Azimuddin and supply bluetooth devices and smart watches to candidates appearing for the KPTCL recruitment test.

Sanju Bhandari was arrested last week and the raid on Bengaluru was carried out based on information provided by him. With Azimuddin’s arrest, the number of accused has gone up to 17.
