KALABURAGI: Aspirants appearing for KPSC exams were forced to remove their mangalsutra and toe-rings at an exam centre here on Sunday in order to prevent malpractice. After the news was broadcast on Public TV, senior officials immediately rushed to the exam centre and warned the staff not to force the aspirants to remove the mangalsutra and toe-rings.

The KPSC exam was conducted at the Government Pre-University College for Girls in Kalaburagi. The officials had forced women aspirants appearing for the exam to remove their mangalsutra, toe-rings, earrings and other metal items to prevent irregularities in the examination conducted for the Group C post.

The authorities at the exam centre refused permission to married women who hesitated to remove the Mangalsutra. Also, as the earring did not come off, one woman had to go to a goldsmith to remove it.

Two women hailing from Raichur were checked by the examination centre officials and asked to remove their mangalsutra and toe-rings. Left with no choice, the women took them off and handed them them to their relatives and only then were they allowed inside the examination hall.
