BENGALURU: A distinct flying suit, called the Flying Jet Suit MK-1, is grabbing attention at the ongoing Aero India air show in Bengaluru.

The makers of the suit, Absolute Composites Pvt Ltd, claim that this is the first Made in India, fully indigenous personal air mobility jet suit. It has flying capacity of 10 km, weighs 80 kg with diesel tank and has an endurance of about 8 minutes to 9 minutes. The company claims that the flying suit can be used for defence purposes and during medical emergencies as well.

The total cost of the product is not yet out as it will depend on the customisation of the suit as required by end users. The company says the suit will be launched in the market soon.

Founder and director of Absolute Composites Pvt Ltd, Raghav Reddy, describing the features, said, “The special feature of the jet suit is that it is very simple and lightweight and can be carried and operated easily. It is not fully autonomous. The turbojet engines run on diesel fuel, but training is required. We have formulated a course exclusively for this technology and training has already started. The weight of the person should be compatible with the suit”.

He further added, “We are focusing on technology and we will customise the product as per the needs of the end users. This device or suit can be used for emergency purpose. It consumes 27 litres to 30 litres of fuel for 8 minutes of operation and weighs 40 kg along with 15 litres of fuel. The final cost of the product will depend on its application. We are closely working with Directorate General and Civil Aviation (DGCA)”.
