BENGALURU: After Union Home Minister Amit Shah sounded the poll bugle from Mandya, the heartland of the Vokkaliga community in the Old Mysuru region, the Janata Dal (Secular) now hopes to use his proposal on collaboration between Nandini brand and the Amul brand to hit back at the BJP in the region.

In the Old Mysuru area, which is the largest producer of milk and where a majority of farmers are dependent on animal husbandry, the JD(S) plans to highlight Shah’s suggestion on “merger” of the two brands and campaign that the BJP is out to finish off the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF).

The JD(S) plans to rake up the emotive issue and will highlight that any such plan will be detrimental to farmers. How this will play out in the coming months remains to be seen.
