DAVANAGERE: A girl student was found hanging in suspicious circumstances in the college hostel. The deceased Ranjitha (17), who hailed from Kuruvatti village of Hoovina Hadagali taluk, was studying PUC II at Team Academy in Davangere for last one-and-a-half years.
The body of the girl was found on Wednesday night hanging from hostel window. Her parents have expressed doubts about the death and vented anger against Team Academy alleging she was beaten, murdered and hanged. They also filed a complaint against Team Academy at Vidya Nagar police station.
Team Academy College head K M Manjappa said, “This student had gone to her native place few days ago. After returning, she seemed a bit depressed. Around 4 pm on Wednesday, she went to the hostel from class citing illness. The incident came to light when other students went to room at night. She had locked the room and committed suicide inside”.
“The student was taken to district hospital in the presence of Vidyanagar police officers and her relatives where doctors confirmed that she had died. She was studying well, recently she was talking about health issues. She had secured first rank in Hoovina Hadagali taluk in SSLC”, Manjappa added.
